During the meeting of the cabinet held today, Wednesday, headed by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, at the government headquarters in the new administrative capital, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanu, Minister of Culture, reviewed the statistical report of the Ministry of Culture’s initiatives and activities for the year 2025.

In his report, the Minister dealt with a number of activities that took place since the beginning of 2025 until now, which is: the launch of the first phase of the “Dedicating one million books” initiative, the harvest of the Cairo International Book Fair 2025, the statistical report on the application of “Book”, the harvest of the Egyptian cultural days in Qatar, and the “Culture Day” to honor the identity makers 2025.
Regarding the launch of the first phase of the “Dedicating Million Books” initiative, the Minister of Culture explained that the ministry launched this initiative on January 23, 2025, in conjunction with the opening of the Cairo International Book Fair, with the aim of spreading culture and enhancing cognitive awareness. The total books presented in the first stage amounted to 268,793 books, which benefited from a number of bodies such as ministries: education and technical education, higher education and scientific research, youth and sports, social solidarity, as well as Al -Azhar University, the Egyptian Church and the Journalists Syndicate.
With regard to the harvest of the Cairo International Book Fair 2025, the minister pointed out that the number of visitors in that version reached 5 million, 547 thousand and 970 visitors, and the number of participating publishing houses was swallowed 1345 publishing houses, as well as the exhibition witnessed the participation of 80 countries, reviewing in this regard statistics related to a number of wings of those countries and the aspects of their participation.

In the same context, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanu added that the number of cultural and artistic events during the exhibition period reached 600 events and the number of participants reached 3000. The total revenue reached 953 million and 792 thousand and 953 pounds, while the dollar return from international posts reached more than one million and 54 thousand US dollars, and the Egyptian General Book Authority achieved sales of 3 million and 189 thousand and 320 pounds.

The minister emphasized that the indicators of the copy of the Cairo International Book Fair in 2025 witnessed an improvement compared to the indicators of the previous version in 2024; This is in terms of increasing the number of publishing houses, the number of countries, the number of events, exhibitors, visitors and participating institutions, as well as the total revenues and dollars.
The Minister of Culture said: This reflects the increasing interest in knowledge and culture, and the success of the exhibition in attracting new publishing houses and increasing the participating countries; This confirms the strengthening of his position as one of the largest book showrooms globally. It also confirms the increase in the revenues and financial returns the economic growth of the cultural sector in Egypt.
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanu moved to review the statistical report on the application of “Book”, explaining that the total number of books available reached more than 2000 books, whose specializations vary between literature and novels, history and philosophy, science and knowledge, autonomous biographies, and various other books, adding that the number of times the application has exceeded 500 thousand, and the number of active users per month reaches 100 thousand users while the number of books read monthly reached a month 1.2 million books.
The minister stressed that the application includes many advantages, including the ability to read without an internet connection, and the smart search feature that allows to find information easily inside books or via the Internet, pointing out that the application is free and easily available to download for the users of the Android system.

With regard to harvesting the Egyptian cultural days in Qatar, the Minister of Culture explained that cultural events witnessed a wide presence of the Qatari audience and the resident Arab communities, as the number of visitors reached more than 45,000 visitors during the four days of events, which reflects the great interest in Egyptian culture and arts.
He added: The various events included the heritage and traditional crafts exhibition, exhibitions of plastic art and Arabic calligraphy, heritage arts workshops, musical and lyrical performances, an opening ceremony and closing ceremony, a religious chanting evening, and other shows and activities.

On “Culture Day” to honor the ID makers 2025, the minister stated that the Ministry of Culture launched the first edition of the “Culture Day” celebration in January 2025, a annual tradition that aims to honor the cultural and creative symbols that influenced the Egyptian cultural scene throughout the year, with the commemoration of the late creators in appreciation of their giving.
