United Nations: 3600 children in Gaza suffering from malnutrition – seventh day

The Associated Press reported, quoting a statement of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) that the Gaza Strip has faced the worst humanitarian crisis since the war began, that is, about 18 months ago.

The statement confirmed the high number of children receiving treatment as a result of malnutrition to 3,600 children, after they numbered two thousand children last month.

A joint statement issued by the heads of humanitarian organizations – including the Norwegian Refugee Council and Oxfam – indicated that 95% of relief organizations reduced or completely stopped their operations due to the bombing.

The Associated Press emphasized that almost all Gaza population now depends on the kitchens of charities that only one million meals per day, while other food distribution programs were closed due to the lack of supplies and the United Nations and other relief organizations were sent their remaining stocks to the kitchens of charitable societies.

A few days ago, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Humanitarian and Reconstruction in Gaza Sigrid Kag told Anatolia that more than 60,000 children under the age of five in the Strip suffer from malnutrition.

In turn, the Relief and Works Agency for the Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) warned that Gaza is close to the “very severe hunger” as a result of the continued Israeli siege.

UNRWA, director of media and communication to UNRWA, said in a statement that infants and children in the Gaza Strip are “sleeping hungry” in light of the approaching basic supplies available in the Strip to completely escape.

Since the second of last March, Israel continues to close the sector crossings in front of the entry of food, relief, medical and goods, causing a significant deterioration in the humanitarian conditions of the Palestinians.
