Guterres expresses its concern about the bombing of the Al -Ahly Baptist Hospital in Gaza – the seventh day

UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres expressed his deep concern about Israel’s bombing of the Al -Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which led to his departure from work and a severe blow to the already destructive health care system in the Strip.

The United Nations official website quoted a statement issued by the spokesman for the Secretary -General Stephen Dujarric that Guterres stressed the need to restore the ceasefire and renew the agreement without delay, respect and protect civilians at all times, and provide them with the basic necessities for them to survive.

Guterres re -minded that under international humanitarian law, wounded, patients, medical cadres and medical facilities, including hospitals, must be respected and protected.

He said, “Nearly 70% of Gaza is now subject to displacement orders issued by Israel, or it falls within a” banned “area, which leaves the Palestinians in Gaza without a safe place to resort to, and without enough ways to live.”

The Secretary -General also again expressed his deep concern about the continued prevention of aid, as Israel did not allow any humanitarian aid or other basic supplies for more than seven weeks.

Guterres emphasized that the human consequences are severe, with the depletion of food stocks, the severe decrease in water production, and the almost completely depleted shelter materials … stressing that the United Nations will not participate in any arrangement to deliver aid that does not respect human principles in full respect for “humanity, integrity, independence, and neutrality.”
