Morocco and France discuss issues of security, immigration and common concern – the seventh day

Today, Monday / in Rabat, Moroccan Minister of Interior, Abdel -Wafi Laftit, reviewed with Bruno Rotayo, Minister of State Minister of Interior, as well as the prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation, as part of the declaration of the enhanced exceptional partnership, signed by the leaders of the two countries in October 2024.

The two sides noted what the security aspect and immigration in relations between the two countries constitute, as it was emphasized that cooperation in the field of security and immigration comes in the context of distinguished developments based on mutual trust, which is pushed by joint challenges and reading that the two countries share to the regional and international environment, as well as identical views on strategic issues.

The Moroccan minister suggested finding a framework for new and comprehensive partnership and cooperation, which will be based on a review of a set of agreements between the two ministries in order to make it a mechanism that is at the level of common aspirations, and the adoption of the Maghrib – France road map for cooperation between the two ministries of the Interior in the two countries.

At the security level, the two ministers praised the fruitful cooperation between the bodies concerned with the two countries, explaining that this cooperation, based on close coordination and exchange of information, enabled the effective containment of terrorist threat and the achievement of a set of concrete successes, especially through the dismantling of terrorist and criminal networks.

The Moroccan Minister of Interior pointed to the holistic and humanitarian approach at the same time that Morocco adopts in the field of migration governance, stressing the importance of the work carried out by the permanent joint immigration group Morocco – France, the reference mechanism in order to address a series of operational stakes.

The Moroccan minister also renewed the assertion of the full commitment to the Moroccan side, in order to work to find a common reference, whether at the level of systems or at the level of statistics.

The two ministers agreed on the necessity of expanding and strengthening the field of bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of civil protection and the management of major events.
