UNRWA: Gaza is close to severe hunger, infants and children sleep hungry – the seventh day

On Friday, the Palestinian Relief and Works Agency “UNRWA” announced today, Friday, Gaza is close to “very severe hunger”, while the basic supplies in the Strip were neglected to exist, as a result of the continuous Israeli closure of the crossings since last March 2.

“With the continued blockade of the Israeli authorities on Gaza for more than 6 weeks, all the basic supplies are about to exist,” said UNRWA, Director of Media and Communication, Juliet Touma – in a statement, reported by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa).

Toma explained that the rating of the basic supplies is accompanied by a “significant increase in the prices” of the goods available in Gaza during the past month, since Israel imposed its blockade on the sector, this means that infants and children sleep hungry.

She emphasized that the Gaza Strip without “these basic supplies, is very close to hunger,” calling for the necessity of an immediate appeal for the ceasefire in Gaza, lifting the siege and allowing the entry of humanitarian and commercial supplies without obstacles.

On March 2, Israel closed the Gaza Strip crossings in front of the entry of humanitarian, relief and medical aid to the Strip, causing an unprecedented deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
