The Fifth Criminal Department of the Court of First Instance in Tunisia held today, Friday, its second session to consider the issue of conspiracy against the security of the state, which includes about 40 accused, politicians, media and businessmen. According to the Tunisian Radio Mosaique, the session was remotely through video technology, amid opposition calls to protest what it describes as a “political and photo trial.”

The session witnessed some representatives of the accused families raised slogans inside the courtroom to demand the entry of the rest of the individuals, similar to what was done in the previous session on March 4.

The session was attended by some of the defendants referred to a state of release, while others boycotted the technique of the “trial from the distance” that the court adopted in this case. As for the defendants, in the event of an arrest, only Hattab Salama came from them as an expression of their rejection of the trial remotely and the circumstances of the current trial.

Lawyers expressed the tongue of defending their adherence to a trial inside the court, with all guarantees of a fair trial, renewing their demand to release the accused and to complete the litigation procedures while they were released as they do not represent a threat to society.

It should be noted that today’s session was attended by diplomats representatives of the European Union, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Britain, Spain, Sweden and representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner in addition to national and foreign media.
