Hamas welcomes the move of France to recognize the State of Palestine – the seventh day

Hamas leader said today, Thursday, that the movement welcomes the announcement of French President Emmanuel Macron for a plan to recognize the Palestinian state next June, describing it as an “important step.”

Mahmoud Mardawi told the French Press Agency that “France, as a country with a political weight and a permanent member of the Security Council, has the ability to influence the course of fair solutions, push towards ending the occupation and achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people,” Mahmoud Mardawi told the French Press Agency.

In an interview broadcast yesterday on the local “France 5” channel, Macron announced that Paris may recognize the Palestinian state “in June” during a conference that France will head in conjunction with Saudi Arabia at the United Nations in New York.

“We have to go towards confession, and we will do it in the coming months,” Macron said. “Our goal is to head this conference with Saudi Arabia in June, where we can accomplish the move to mutual recognition (the state of Palestine) with several parties,” Macron added.

According to the French President, the conference aims to establish a Palestinian state and recognize Israel by “all those who defend Palestine.”

“We welcome the statements issued by the French President,” Mardawi said, adding, “We consider it an important step, if implemented, which constitutes a positive shift in the international position towards the legitimate national rights of our Palestinian people.”
