UN spokesman, Stephen Dujarric, confirmed that more than 4,000 people were newly displaced in the state of North Darfur during the past week alone, due to the escalation of violence in El Fasher, including Zamzam camp for the displaced, where the state of starvation was confirmed.
According to the United Nations Media Center, today, Thursday, the United Nations warned of the consequences of the continuation of hostilities across Darfur, Sudan, which prompted thousands of people to flee their homes amid the deterioration of humanitarian conditions and restrict relief efforts.
Dujarik stressed that the displaced families, including many women and children, are in urgent need of shelter, and that they need food, water and medical supplies, and warned against the sharp financing gaps and logistical challenges that hinder the ability of relief organizations to respond, pointing out that the ongoing conflict still endangers civilians throughout Sudan.

He said, “The intensification of the fighting in the state of Khartoum has suspended a period of calm witnessed by the western neighborhoods of Omdurman,” adding that there are also reports stating that new civilians are displaced, and they needed protection and humanitarian assistance urgently, noting that an attack by drones in northern Sudan earlier this week led to the suspension of operations in the Meroe Dam; Which caused the power outages widely in several states.
“The air strikes have caused civilian casualties and damaged biological infrastructure, which confirms the increasing impact of this conflict on basic services,” Dujarric said.
