The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, with the adoption of the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) during its 221st session in Paris, unanimously, a decision on the old city of Jerusalem and its walls under the item of “occupied Palestine”.
The spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Al -Qudah, said in a statement on Wednesday – that the decision taken by the Executive Council today re -demanded Israel, the existing force of the occupation, to stop all its unilateral and legal actions in the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls that target the exceptional cultural and historical value of Jerusalem and expose the city’s cultural heritage at risk.
He said that this decision confirms the constants of the Jordanian position regarding the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, including Islamic and Christian holy places, as it emphasizes renewed the contents of the previous decisions issued by the Executive Council, and the decisions of the World Heritage Committee for Jerusalem.
