The Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, stressed his country’s keenness to support Syria’s efforts to preserve its security and stability and ensure the rights of all components of society, stressing in this regard the need to preserve the Christian presence in the Middle East.

This came during his reception, today, Tuesday, the confusion of the Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East of the Royal Roman Catholic Youssef Al -Absi, in the presence of Prince Al -Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Jordanian Crown Prince, and Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the chief consultant of the King for Religious and Cultural Affairs, his personal envoy.

In turn, Ghusba Al -Batir Al -Absi stressed the importance of the Hashemite guardianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, appreciating Jordan’s role in standing alongside the Palestinian people, and the role of the king in preserving the presence of oriental Christians and defending their sanctities and churches.

And that Jordan, with its Hashemite leadership, constitutes a role model for coexistence and respecting the children of Christian sects, pointing to the king’s role in promoting dialogue and understanding between the followers of religions through the initiatives of Amman’s message, “Kalima Kaul”, and the Week of International Harmony between Religions.

The meeting was attended by, according to the statement of the Royal Court, Director of the King’s Office, Eng. Alaa Al -Batayneh, and heads of the Royal Catholic Roman Churches in Jordan, Al -Quds Al -Sharif and Lebanon.
