Rulings of 5 imprisonment are imprisoned on social media in Tunisia – the seventh day

On Monday, a Tunisian court issued a prison sentence of 5 influencers and content makers on social media for accusing them of publishing unethical contents. The sentences ranged between prison for two and three years, including three young men and two girls, according to local media.

The court charged the detainees with “the use of information systems to publish photos and videos of physical or sexual abuse of others.”

Human rights organizations in Tunisia demand the authority to withdraw the 54th decree issued by President Qais Saeed in 2022, which determines the crimes related to communication and information systems.

The decree caused the deposit of journalists, activists and bloggers of prison, mostly on charges of publishing incorrect news.
