Palestinian Journalists: 209 martyrs of journalists since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza – the seventh day

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate announced the increase in the number of journalists martyrs since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023 to 209 journalists, after the martyrdom of journalists Ahmed Mansour and Hilmi Al -Faqawi, at dawn today, in Khan Yunis, south of the Strip.

The union condemned – in a statement reported by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) – in the hideous massacre committed by the Israeli occupation, at dawn today, by targeting a tent designated for journalists near Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, which resulted in the martyrdom of journalists Ahmed Mansour and Hilmi Al -Faqawi, and the injury of journalists Ahmed Al -Agha, Mahmoud Awad, Muhammad Fayek, Abdullah Al -Attar, Ihab Al -Bardini seriously.

She pointed out that last March witnessed a serious escalation against journalists, which was the death of 7 of them in the Gaza Strip, including 6 during their field coverage and one inside his house, in addition to the death of 8 members of the families of journalists during direct targeting of their journalists.

In occupied Jerusalem, the Syndicate has documented 11 summonses to investigate journalists, in addition to issuing 11 decisions to deport from the vicinity of the Al -Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, in the context of a systematic restriction policy to prevent press coverage of Israeli violations.

The union explained that the violations during the month of March included about 102 crimes and attacks against journalists and media crews in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including 40 cases of detention and prevention of coverage, and 12 live shootings that resulted in two injuries, along with 7 arrests, some of whom were released, while others are still in detention.

The union also documented 7 cases of physical assault, the destruction of 3 houses belonging to journalists, in addition to storming their homes, confiscating their equipment, imposing house arrest on some, and preventing newspapers from entering Jerusalem, as well as repeated incitement and threat campaigns.

At the end of its statement, the union affirmed its continued efforts with international human rights and union institutions to secure protection for Palestinian journalists, hold the occupation accountable for its crimes, and ensure that the perpetrators do not escape punishment.
