The Syrian government issued a press statement in response to the Amnesty International report, in which it accused the remnants of the former regime of violations against the people on sectarian motives during the coast events.
The government statement said: “The government of the Syrian Arab Republic continued with the interest of the report issued by Amnesty International, on the events of the Syrian coast that took place last March, and the initial summaries that it contained left to the Independent National Committee for Investigation and Facts, the task of evaluating it in accordance with the mandate, independence and broad powers granted by a presidential decision.”
She added: “The belief of the government of the importance of upholding justice and enhancing transparency, it would like to indicate the existence of systematic observations that should not be ignored over time, and among the most prominent of these notes is the tendency from some human rights reports to neglect the context in which events took place or reduce its importance, which affects the results reached.”
And she continued: “The unfortunate events in the coast started with an attack that left and a pre -killing structure launched by the remnants of the former regime, targeting the General Security Forces and the army, during which violations against the people and residents of the region were committed, sometimes sectarian motives, and this resulted in a temporary absence of the state authority, after the martyrdom of hundreds of elements, which led to security chaos followed by revenge, abuses and violations, and the national committee has taken over it Investigating these violations and issuing their results within thirty days.

The Syrian government emphasized that its efforts and willingness to cooperate with human rights organizations and allow them to reach all parts of the country have received the praise of the International Investigation Committee, as these efforts are compatible with a comprehensive national reconciliation approach based on transitional justice that concerns criminals alone, and the state and its institutions are the basic reference in this framework without any revenge.
