Yemeni human rights network: 6 thousand civilians have been affected by the Houthi mines since 2017 – the seventh day

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms announced, in a report on the occasion of the International Day of Mine Awareness, the documentation of the killing of 2316 civilians and the injury of 4115 others, including women and children, as a result of the mines planted by the “Houthi militia” in multiple Yemeni provinces during the period from January 2017 to the end of January 2025.

The report, which was reported by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on Friday – that among the victims are 387 children, 412 women dead, 738 children and 677 wounded women, indicating that 918 wounded suffer from permanent disabilities, including 413 cases of amputation and two cases of loss of sight.

The report revealed that anti -personnel and shields caused the damage of 6431 financial and human in 13 Yemeni governorates. He stressed that Yemen faces one of the most dangerous humanitarian files as a result of these mines, which represent serious crimes and violations that threaten the present and future of the country, and requires international attention commensurate with the scale of the disaster.

The Yemeni Network called on the United Nations to open an urgent and transparent investigation into the use of anti -personnel mines in Yemen, and to bear its legal and humanitarian responsibility towards the victims by providing the necessary support and protection, and ensuring a decent life for the injured with serious disabilities. It also called for contributing to supporting local, regional and international efforts aimed at discovering and removing minefields spread in Yemen.
