The United Nations Women has warned of the dire consequences of the collapse of a fragile ceasefire on women and girls in Gaza and highlighted “horrific details” of human losses within just eight days of the escalation of fighting.
For her part, Maris Gaimon, a special actress of the United Nations Women in Palestine, said that the period from 18 to 25 March witnessed the killing of 830 people, including 174 women and 322 children, and the injury of 1787 others, noting that this means the killing of 21 women and more than 40 children per day, stressing that “this is not side harm; this is a war in which women and children bear the greatest burden.”
She emphasized that women and children constitute nearly 60% of the victims in recent events, which is “a horrific testimony to the random nature of this violence.” Jimon quoted the body of the commission, women and girls in Gaza, their demands to end the war, stressing that the situation is limited to “survival.”
