UNICEF: More than 16 million children in Sudan face tragic conditions – the seventh day

The Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Organization (UNICEF) Catherine Russell confirmed that more than 30 million people in Sudan need humanitarian aid this year, including 16 million children facing tragic conditions.

In her surname before the UN Security Council on Sudan, Russell gave shocking numbers on the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, warning against the exacerbation of the situation if the starvation and severe malnutrition become threatening millions, especially children, according to the American “Al -Hurra” channel on Sunday.

Russell explained that after nearly two years of conflict, Sudan is witnessing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world in light of the collapse of the economy, infrastructure and social services.

She pointed out that hunger is exacerbated in several regions, where at least one million and 300,000 children under the age of five suffer from famine, in addition to facing more than 3 million children, the risk of fatal diseases such as cholera, malaria and dengue fever as a result of the collapse of the health system.

United Nations figures indicate that about 16 million and 500,000 children of study age are deprived of education, which threatens a full generation.
