UN experts said in a new report, Thursday, that Israel committed “genocide” against the Palestinians, systematically destroyed health care facilities for women, and used sexual violence as a strategy in the war on the Gaza Strip.
The Independent International Investigation Committee on the occupied Palestinian land, including East Jerusalem, stated that “the Israeli authorities have partly destroyed the reproductive capacity of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip collectively, with actions, including imposing procedures with the aim of preventing births, which is one of the provisions of genocide in the basic system of Rome and the Genocide Prevention Treaty.”
The committee stated that “these procedures, in addition to the high number of deaths between mothers due to the restriction of access to medical supplies, amount to the crime of genocide, which is a crime against humanity.”

The United Nations Convention for Genocide defines this crime as “actions that have been committed with the intention of destroying a national, ethnic, religious, religious or partial group.”
The investigation indicated that Israel “intentionally caused life conditions (i.e. the Palestinians) to cause physical destruction,” and “imposing measures aimed at preventing the occurrence of births.”
“It is a physical attack, but it is also a psychological assault. It aims to humiliate.”

The investigation stated that Israel carried out systematic strikes targeting the health infrastructure in Gaza, including hospitals and clinics that provide reproductive care services.
The investigation indicated that this led to the almost complete destruction of the health sector’s ability to provide care for pregnant and newborn women.
The report accused the Israeli forces of using forced public erosion and sexual assault as part of its procedures to punish the Palestinians.
Israel is one of the countries signed by the Genocide Prevention Treaty, which was ordered by the International Court of Justice in January 2024 to take measures to prevent genocide during the war on Gaza. But Israel is not a party to the Rome Statute, which gives the International Criminal Court the authority to issue rulings on individual criminal cases that involve genocide and crimes against humanity.
