Today, Saturday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry expressed its welcome to the decision of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to resume Syria’s membership after 13 years of comment, and said in a statement: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the decision of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to resume Syria’s membership after the fall of the Assad regime and confirms that this decision represents an important step towards Syria’s return to the regional and international community as a free and fair country.”
The statement added: “As a government consisting of those who have suffered one day from the tyranny of Assad before they became the editors of our country, we reaffirm our firm commitment to the principles of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.” He continued: “We are ready to work alongside our brothers and sisters in the Islamic world to rebuild Syria and strengthen our region on the basis of our common values of justice, peace and cooperation.”

Reuters had reported that Syria had regained its membership in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation after its suspension for 13 years, during a meeting of the organization consisting of 57 members in Jeddah on Friday.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al -Shaibani was called to meet to take over the Syrian seat after the vote.
