The committee said in a statement published on Friday, that it “received disturbing reports on the escalation of violence in Latakia, Tartous and Hama,” noting that it was investigating worrying videos that are currently being circulated, showing armed men participating in systematic killings, and severe cruelty towards isolated people.

The committee urged all parties to exercise the utmost restraint to avoid more bloodshed and allow security and order to restore.
The United Nations Special Envoy to Syria, Gear Pederson, expressed his deep concern about the reports received regarding violent clashes and killings in coastal areas, including between the forces of business draining authorities and pro -elements of the previous regime, with very disturbing reports of civilian casualties.

“In light of the continued developments of the situation and our endeavor to verify the facts accurately, there is an immediate need to control the soul from all parties, and to ensure full respect for the protection of civilians in accordance with international law,” Pederson said in a statement issued on Friday.
He stressed that all parties should refrain from any actions that may fuel tensions, escalate the conflict, exacerbate the suffering of affected societies, destabilize Syria, or undermine reliable and comprehensive political transition for all.
