The Qatari Prime Minister evaluates Trump’s procedures on the Ukrainian crisis – the seventh day

Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said that the procedures of US President Donald Trump on the Ukrainian crisis are steps in the right direction.

The Qatari Prime Minister stressed that “Trump’s actions on Ukraine are going in the right direction, and the conflict must end peacefully with respect for the interests of both parties.”

Al -Thani pointed out that “if you look at the recent measures that President Trump has taken in cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (to solve the Ukrainian crisis), I think this is the right direction … steps that are taken sound.”

He added that “Qatar has offered since the beginning of the crisis to play the role of the mediator, but due to the special complexity of the situation, it decided to mediate in certain issues, in particular, regarding the return of Ukrainian and Russian children to their families.”

He said: “We tried to be a mediator in the power file, but it did not work.” He pointed out that “Qatar was moving with the aim of laying the foundation so that a person like Trump could come and conclude a peace agreement.”

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier expressed the Kingdom’s welcome to host the scheduled meeting between the United States of America and Ukraine, which will be held in Jeddah next week.

The American Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Wittouf, announced that the agenda of the US -Ukrainian meeting in Saudi Arabia next week will include discussing the basics of a six -month settlement agreement.

The American envoy confirmed that “Zellinski apologized and expressed his willingness to work to achieve peace,” explaining that “the next meeting between senior American and Ukrainian officials next week in Saudi Arabia will send a good signal to Moscow.”
