The American Republican Representative Greg Stube has re -presented a draft law to Congress, aiming to pressure the Lebanese government and the army to reduce the influence of Hezbollah and its allies in Lebanon.
The project bears the name “Preventing armed groups from engaging in extremism”, and the Lebanese government is required to take concrete steps within 60 days to disarm the party, with sanctions imposed on individuals and entities involved in its support, as well as the project known as “People’s Law”, to stop the federal funding of the Lebanese army unless it is committed to strict conditions related to ending the influence of Hezbollah and cutting any links with Iran.

The law stipulates that the American financing of the Lebanese army does not appeal except after the Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed Lebanon to achieve Lebanon for a set of conditions, most notably the end of any official recognition of Hezbollah and its allies, and the withdrawal of political legitimacy from the “loyalty to resistance” and the “Amal” movement. According to “Lebanon 24”.
The project also calls on the Lebanese army and internal security forces to implement Security Council Resolution 1559 of 2004, which imposes the dismantling of all Lebanese and non -Lebanese militias, and to remove the Hezbollah forces from its well -known strongholds and prevent their concentration.
Specger had first submitted the law to Congress on September 18.
It is noteworthy that on September 17 and 18, 2024, Lebanon witnessed a series of simultaneous bombings targeting electronic devices, most notably the Beita and wireless communication devices (Woki-Faki), which resulted in a number of deaths and the injury of thousands of others, including children, and the bombings caused a state of panic among the population, especially with targeting crowded areas, such as residential streets and supermarkets, and during a funeral in the southern suburb To Beirut.

According to the reports, the Beita and the wireless communication devices that Israel blew up were used by Hezbollah cadres, but they also reached civilians, including health workers and non -profit organizations, which increased the number of victims. It is likely that the bombings were carried out through small explosive devices that are controlled remotely, and last November, Netanyahu confessed to Israel’s responsibility for the “Beja” operation.
