The deputy representative of the United Nations Secretary -General in Iraq, Ghulam Ishaq, affirmed the United Nations’s continuous commitment to working with Iraq and enhancing a comprehensive dialogue between its various components.

Isaac said – during a press conference on the occasion of the day of tolerance, according to the Iraqi News Agency (conscious) – that Iraq, the cradle of civilizations, is characterized by a unique diversity that represents a basic pillar of a promising future, pointing out that tolerance and coexistence require everyone, leaders, institutions and societies, devoting an environment based on mutual respect.

He added that Iraq faced great challenges, but it has proven its ability to overcome it and choose the path of reconciliation, stressing the importance of continuing to work to build a respectful society and appreciates diversity.

Isaac stressed that the United Nations supports the policies that establish the values ​​of equality and justice for all, and believe that tolerance and equality are two basic engines for sustainable development, noting that Iraq is progressing towards achieving sustainable development goals is related to its ability to ensure equal opportunities for all individuals.
