This came during a visit by the Algerian President to Bashar Governorate (southwest), where he met a number of students and professors of the Faculty of Medicine, according to official television.
During his dialogue with the students, Taboun asked a question in which he said: “Did all students agree to the teaching decision in the English language?”, “So that one of the professors answered him, saying:” It is not hidden to you, Mr. President, that since 2022 we rely on teaching on volumes in English, and we have no choice but to completely shift to it. “
After Taboun, he said, “So, it is a right decision,” noting that this trend reflects the ongoing transformations in the country’s higher education system.

On April 3, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Algeria issued instructions addressed to the deans of medical colleges, calling them to start teaching medical specialties in the English language starting from the next university season, “according to a gradual approach” that includes the first year of medical specialties, pharmacy, and dentistry.
