Today, the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, received a message from the President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashit, conveyed to him by Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al -Badrani, which included an official invitation to attend the work of the Arab Summit in its thirty -fourth regular session and the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in its fifth session, which Baghdad (Dar Al Salam) will host on Saturday, May 17.
The letter said: “We are looking forward to contributing to these two statures in promoting joint Arab action, and achieving the hopes of Arab peoples in light of the challenges and circumstances facing our countries, and that your participation will have a great impact in achieving tangible progress on the path of Arab cooperation, and reaching the desired goals, and in a way that preserves the interests of the Arab peoples, and meets their aspirations in safe life and prosperity.”
Al -Badrani was conveyed to Aoun, the greetings of Rashid and the Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shi’a Al -Sudani and their wishes for meeting the invitation, and emphasized the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries.
For his part, Aoun thanked Al-Badrani for his visit and his greetings to Rashid and Al-Sudani, stressing the strength of the Lebanese-Iraqi relations and the mutual desire to strengthen them in all fields.
Al -Badrani was accompanied by the business of the Iraqi embassy in Lebanon, Mrs. Nada Karim Mujul and Mr. Mohamed Faris from the embassy ceremony.

The Assistant Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, had said that the Arab summit scheduled to be held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on the seventeenth of next month, will discuss a number of priority political and development files on the Arab scene.
Zaki added that the upcoming Arab summit will be preceded by a series of preparatory meetings, whether technical or logistical, to ensure the readiness of all delegations and files, and also reflects the seriousness in preparing its work.
Ambassador Hossam Zaki pointed out that the agenda will include pivotal political issues, on top of which is the Palestinian issue in all its dimensions, in addition to the situation in Syria, Libya, Yemen, Sudan and Lebanon, along with the files of Arab solidarity, and development and social challenges.
In a related context, the Assistant Secretary -General announced the holding of the fifth session of the Arab Development Summit on May 17, in conjunction with the convening of the regular Arab summit.
He pointed out that the development summit will discuss social and development issues within the framework of supporting sustainable development efforts and enhancing economic and social cooperation between Arab countries.
Ambassador Hossam Zaki also stressed that next June will witness the convening of the international conference at the level of foreign ministers in New York, in implementation of the decision issued by the United Nations General Assembly, noting that the preparations for this conference took place during the last period with intense participation and coordination with the Arab Islamic Committee and the International Alliance for the two -state solution.
