The Monetary Fund and the International Bank confirm their support for the efforts to recover and develop Syria – the seventh day

Crystalina Georgiviva, Director General of the International Monetary Fund, and Ajay Banga, head of the World Bank Group, participated at a high -level round table around Syria, held on the sidelines of the spring meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund for a year in Washington.

A joint statement today stated that the round table was held with the participation of representatives of the Syrian government, financial ministers, officials from regional financial institutions, in addition to economic and development partners.

The meeting provided the opportunity for the Syrian authorities to present their ongoing efforts to achieve stability, rebuild their country, reduce poverty, and achieve long -term economic development. The participants also expressed their support for the efforts of the Syrian authorities aimed at enhancing governance and increasing transparency while working to build effective institutions that serve the Syrian people.

The meeting witnessed a wide acknowledgment of the urgent challenges facing the Syrian economy and a collective commitment to support the efforts of the authorities to achieve recovery and development, as priority will be given to efforts to meet the urgent needs of the Syrian people, rebuild institutions, development development, policy reforms, and set a national strategy for economic recovery.

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group were invited to play a major role in providing support in line with their states and reflecting the support of shareholders, in close coordination with multilateral and two partners.

The statement welcomed the efforts made to help Syria reintegrate with the international community and open ways to reach resources, to support the efforts of the authorities in the field of policy, meet the needs of early recovery and reconstruction, enhance the development of private sector and create job opportunities.

The officials thanked all the participants for their valuable contributions and their commitment to support the efforts of the Syrian authorities to rebuild Syria and improve the lives of the Syrian people.

They expressed their aspiration to hold another meeting by the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in October 2025, to follow up on progress made and coordinate global efforts to advance economic recovery and prosperity in Syria.
