Al -Aklouk: Foreign Ministers called on the Security Council to take a decision that obliges Israel to stop the genocide in Gaza – the seventh day

Ambassador Muhannad Al -Aklouk, the permanent representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, announced that the Arab Foreign Ministers demanded the UN Security Council to take a binding decision under the seventh chapter of the United Nations Charter, ensuring Israel’s compliance with the council’s decisions regarding the immediate end to fire in the Gaza Strip.

Al -Aklouk said, in a statement today, Thursday, that the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, which held the meetings of its 163rd session yesterday, called for a decision under Chapter Seven obligating Israel, as an illegal occupation force, to a ceasefire and genocide against the Palestinian people, and to allow the introduction of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and to prevent the displacement of the Palestinians forced outside their lands, and the implementation of orders and fatwas of the International Court of Justice regarding temporary measures to prevent The crime of genocide.

The University Council decided to assign the group of Arab ambassadors to the United Nations to start steps to freeze Israel’s membership in the United Nations General Assembly, based on its lack of commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, its threat to international security and peace, and its violation of the obligations that were a condition for accepting its membership, in addition to the consultative opinion of the International Court of Justice.

Al -Aklouk pointed out that the Arab foreign ministers emphasized the implementation of the Arab summit’s decision to include 60 Israeli terrorist organizations and group on the Arab lists of terrorism, and to announce the “list of shame”, which includes 22 Israeli figures that broadcast the speech of hatred and incitement to extermination against the Palestinians, in preparation for taking legal measures against them at the national and international level, and they also confirmed the boycott of 97 companies operating in Israeli settlements, according to the database issued by the council Human rights.

On the legal aspect, the University Council urged the International Court of Justice to accelerate the decision to grow the genocide filed by the Republic of South Africa against Israel, and also called on states to fully cooperate with the International Criminal Court to implement arrest warrants issued against Israeli officials involved in crimes against the Palestinians.

The Arab ministers also denounced the position of Hungary by not implementing and withdrawing the international criminal court decisions, and considered it a serious retreat from legal obligations under the Rome Basic System, which undermines international efforts to achieve justice and provides a cover for impunity.

The University Council condemned all forms of exporting or transporting weapons and military equipment to Israel, and called on the United States of America to review its biased policies of Israel, retract its illegal decision to transfer its embassy to occupied Jerusalem, reopen its public consulate in it, cancel the classification of the Palestine Liberation Organization as a terrorist organization, and reopen its mission in Washington.

Al -Aklouk affirmed that the decisions of the Ministerial Council supported President Mahmoud Abbas’s vision to achieve Palestinian national unity on the basis of commitment to the PLO, its political program and international obligations, the principle of one legal weapon, and enabling the government of the State of Palestine to assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip within the unity of the Palestinian land occupied in 1967.

The Council stressed the support of the will of the Palestinian people in choosing its representatives through general elections, presidential and legislative, to take place within a year in all Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, with the need to create the appropriate conditions for that.

The council’s decisions focused on the importance of the concerted efforts of the international community to compel Israel to end its occupation of the Palestinian territories on the borders of June 4, 1967, remove its effects, pay compensation for damage, and implement the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice issued on July 19, 2024, and implement the decision of the United Nations General Assembly on September 18, 2024, which adopted the outputs of this opinion.

The Council also welcomed the decisions of the Human Rights Council on Palestine, and to extend the tasks of the special decision concerned with the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, Mrs. Francesca Albaniz, expressing appreciation for its positions and reports that are consistent with international law.

Al -Aklouk pointed out that these positions come in light of the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people 565 days, targeting more than 178 thousand civilians between a martyr, wounded and missing, and the continuation of the policy of starvation and comprehensive destruction in Gaza, as well as forced displacement in the West Bank, the escalation of settlement, arrest and torture practices, sabotage of infrastructure and refugee camps, which requires international move Urgent and comprehensive.
