The United Nations in Vienna celebrated the eighties of the founding of the League of Arab States, in an event in which Arab ambassadors accredited to Austria and leaders of international organizations participated.

The Arab League office in Austria stressed that the university continues to play its decisive role in defending the Palestinian issue, which faces the most dangerous threats in its history, as well as its efforts in settling regional conflicts and promoting sustainable development.

In a statement today, Tuesday, the university office thanked Dr. Ghada Wali, Director of the United Nations Office in Vienna, for organizing this celebration. He also thanked the Austrian government for its continuous support since the office opened in the Austrian capital in 1982.
The statement stressed that the establishment of the university on March 22, 1945 represents a historical event that embodies the aspiration of Arab countries to unity and integration, and reflects its commitment to cooperation in facing political, economic and social challenges.
The statement added that for eight decades, the Arab League has worked to enhance the common interests between member states, document cultural and economic ties, and establish peace and stability in the region, noting that the current regional and international conditions require renewal of commitment to the values of solidarity and unity.
The statement stressed that the Arab League undertakes more effective in dealing with international variables, and puts innovation, education and economic cooperation at the forefront of its priorities to build a prosperous and influential Arab future.
