The Palestinian President receives an official invitation from Iraq to participate in the next Arab summit – the seventh day

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received, at his residence in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, an official invitation from the President of Iraq, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, to participate in the Arab summit, scheduled for next month, in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

During the meeting – according to the Iraqi News Agency – a review of the preparations made by the Iraqi government to host the summit, where Minister Fouad Hussein stressed his country’s keenness to be a “platform to enhance Arab solidarity and face common challenges,” noting the importance of active participation of the State of Palestine in the summit, especially with regard to the development summit that precedes the political summit.

Minister Fouad Hussein stressed that the Palestinian issue will remain present in the conscience of Iraq and its fixed positions.

For his part, the Palestinian President, the Iraqi minister, briefed the results of his recent visit to Syria, noting that Palestine will remain at the top of the priorities of joint Arab action.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Iraq and Palestine, as the two sides agreed to expand the areas of cooperation in the areas of development, relief and political support, in light of the current challenges that the region is going through.
