In the context of his visit to Beirut to open the sustainable development forum held in partnership with ESCWA, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, visited the Prime Minister Dr. Nawwaf Salam at his residence this morning, Monday 14th.
The spokesperson for the Secretary -General Jamal Rushdi stated that during the meeting, the developments of the situation in Lebanon and the region were discussed, where the Secretary -General emphasized again the university’s support for Lebanon and its standing and its member states to his side to help him out of his current crisis, while emphasizing the importance of making him the reforms that enable him to meet the economic demands of the Lebanese, as well as fixing his sovereignty over all its lands and extending the state to its authority over all Lebanese soil and securing Israeli withdrawal from the south.
The developments of the situation in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip, were also discussed, where the Secretary -General explained the Arab and Islamic consensus on the need to stop Israeli military operations immediately, and to continue Arab efforts with the active forces to implement the ceasefire agreement in its various stages.
