Palestine welcomes the adoption of “UNESCO” for the decision to influence and the consequences of the current situation in the Gaza Strip – the seventh day

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the accreditation of the United Nations Executive Council for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) today, Friday, in its 221st session held in the French capital, Paris, a third decision entitled “The Impact and Douads of the Standing Status in the Gaza Strip regarding all aspects of the mission of UNESCO”, after the adoption of two resolutions in the State of Palestine, unanimously: occupied Palestine, occupied Palestine, And cultural and educational institutions.

The ministry confirmed – in a statement, reported by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) – that these decisions are important to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people in all fields of UNESCO work, especially in light of what Israel is doing, the illegal occupation authority, from crimes since the Nakba in 1948, especially in the Gaza Strip, the continuous and systematic extermination war, and the violations of education, and the prevention of the UNRWA from continuing its basic work in its basic work The occupied Palestinian land is completely ignoring international law and the provisions of UNESCO, and ignoring the orders of the International Court of Justice, the legal fatwa, and the decisions of the General Assembly.

She pointed out that the adoption of these decisions is a witness to the possibility of the international community to carry out its responsibilities, including through confronting violations and monitoring damage to implementing an urgent action plan to protect the Palestinian people, their cultural heritage and its threat to Israeli colonialism, and to rebuild the Gaza Strip and its development in all related areas.

She explained that the importance of the decision lies in the UNESCO call to implement a work plan for an urgent aid program in the Gaza Strip, and to condemn the deliberate targeting of students, teachers, scientists, journalists and United Nations staff, as well as the damage to infrastructure, media centers, schools, universities and cultural heritage sites in the Gaza Strip and destroy them by the Israeli occupation.

The decision stressed the necessity of stopping the Israeli occupation of hostile violations, violating the freedom of the movement of individuals and humanitarian relief materials and the need to sustain the success of the implementation of the emergency aid program, and calls on all member states and relevant donors to increase funding for the Gaza emergency aid program for the rebuilding of the Gaza Strip.

He also stresses, the need to continue to monitor the situation in all areas of the organization’s work state, and to continue to update the action plan with the immediate implementation of the reconstruction process and with observance of the emerging needs, as well as to take immediate measures to monitor the damages of cultural heritage and document the destruction of historical and religious sites.

The decision also calls for strengthening the safety of journalists in the Gaza Strip by providing psychological and social support and respecting the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2222/2015.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to work to implement all UNESCO decisions to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of the holy Palestinian land, including the occupied city of Jerusalem and its walls, and other Palestinian cities, and in the Gaza Strip that was destroyed.
