Somalia approves an agreement with Egypt to exempt diplomatic passports from the entry visa – the seventh day

Today, Thursday, during its weekly meeting in the capital, Mogadishu, the Somali Cabinet approved a bilateral agreement with Egypt, to exempt the diplomatic passports holders from the entry visa between the two countries, allowing them to enter and leave without a visa for a period of up to 90 days.

This step is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially at the diplomatic and political levels, and the movement of officials and official delegations between Mogadishu and Cairo facilitate – according to the Somali News Agency.

The Council also discussed, in its session chaired by Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Berry, the developments of the security situation in the country, where reports were presented on the ongoing military operations against the remnants of the “terrorists” in a number of states, which resulted in great progress in the government forces and the Popular Defense Forces, and regaining control of strategic areas.

The Council praised the championships of the armed forces and the local resistance forces in their confrontation with terrorist groups, stressing the need to strengthen the material and moral support of the forces, and to intensify cooperation between security institutions and local communities to ensure the stability of the liberated areas.

These developments come at a time when the Somali government continues its efforts to purify the country from security threats, and to advance regional and international cooperation in order to achieve stability and development.
