Maher Al -Shara has a distinguished professional record in the health sector, as he served as Minister of Health in the Syrian interim government, which formed after the collapse of Bashar al -Assad’s regime.

Before that, he assumed the presidency of the Women and Women Surgery Department in a government hospital from 2004 to 2012, where he played a prominent role in improving health care for women and children, which earned him widespread respect in medical circles.

Sharia descends from the town of Busra in southern Syria, and holds a PhD in Medical Sciences, as well as a diploma specializing in health systems management, with long experience in the field of obstetrics and women’s surgery.

Maher Al -Shara name emerged in the period before the formation of the transitional government, and he was one of the most prominent candidates to take over the health portfolio, which is the position he assumed temporarily.
