Al -Duba: Libya deserves peace, harmony, not destruction and division – the seventh day

The President of the Libyan Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al -Dubba, stressed during his revival on Friday the anniversary of the outbreak of the Tripoli war, which started on April 4, 2019, that this tragedy will not be repeated.

Abdel Hamid Al -Dubba emphasized that Libya deserves a future of peace and harmony instead of destruction and division.

Al -Dubaya said in a post on his official page on the “X” platform: “The war that swept the capital 6 years ago represents one of the most black stations in the modern history of Libya,” explaining that its effects are still in mind and painful in its details.

Al -Dabba reviewed an aspect of the humanitarian and economic cost left by the war, noting that more than 4,300 people were killed, including hundreds of women and children, along with thousands of civilians and fighters defending the capital, as well as the displacement of more than 340,000 people from their homes.

He stated that the capital is still having the consequences of this war, starting from the mass graves that were discovered in Tarhuna, which he described as “a crime that shook the conscience of every Libyan”, through the mines planted in residential neighborhoods and farms and still threatening the lives of civilians, and hindering the return of thousands to their areas.

With regard to economic losses, Al -Dabba estimated the direct damage to the infrastructure between 30 and 42 billion dollars, as a result of the destruction that caused residential and service facilities, electricity and water networks, hospitals, and schools, where 227 schools and 30 health facilities were destroyed, which affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of citizens, especially children and patients.

He also pointed out that the repeated shelling of the Maitika International Airport led to the disruption of travel, and the removal of the capital from the world for long periods, while the closure of oil ports the country suffered losses exceeding 9 billion dollars between January and September 2020, caused the decrease in the gross domestic product by 41% and the rise in public debt to more than 100 billion dinars.

Al -Dabba concluded his speech by emphasizing that Libya “has not been defeated despite everything that he passed,” explaining that his government worked to transform the scene from an armed conflict into a race towards construction and reconstruction, by launching development projects in various cities focusing on infrastructure and improving services, in an endeavor to heal the wounds of war and restore hope.
