Gaza: The World Food Program bakeries are forced to close – the seventh day

The World Food Program closed all its bakeries in the Gaza Strip due to its inventory lack as a result of the Israeli blockade of all humanitarian aid for nearly a month.

The European News Network reported that the United Nations agency no longer has enough wheat flour to make bread, and warned against a catastrophic increase in hunger and malnutrition.

The Israeli government’s business coordination in the regions (Cogat) said that more than 25,000 trucks entered Gaza during the ceasefire, loaded with about 450,000 tons of aid, and this amount represents about a third of what came during the war.

For his part, UN spokesman Stephen Dujarric said this claim is “ridiculous”, and that the lack of food is very dangerous.
He added that the organization “has reached the end of its supplies”, and that the lack of flour and cooking oil forced bakeries to close, noting that “the World Food Program does not close its bakes just to close it.”

United Nations agencies and relief organizations say they have faced difficulties in delivering and distributing aid before the ceasefire in January is valid.

Their estimates of the volume of aid that reach the population of Gaza were constantly less than the estimates of the Israeli government’s work office in the regions, which were based on the volume of aid that entered through the border crossings.

Gaza relies heavily on international aid because the war has almost destroyed all its ability to produce food.
