The occupation police arrested 4 Israelis after their participation in demonstrations against the resumption of the war in Gaza – the seventh day

Israeli police arrested 4 protesters pending an investigation after their participation in protests, against the background of protest against the decision of the Benjamin Netanyahu government to resume the war in Gaza.

These demonstrations come amid a constant stalemate in the hostage exchange negotiations, in conjunction with the resumption of fighting in Gaza, the government’s passing of major judicial legislation, and its controversial steps to dismiss the head of the Public Security Agency (Shin Bet) Ronin Bar, and the legal advisor to the government, Ghali Bahrav-Arara.

A poll saw broadcast by Hebrew Channel 12 on Friday showed that 69% of the Israelis support ending the war in exchange for a deal that guarantees the release of all the remaining hostages in Gaza, compared to 21% who oppose such an agreement. Even among the governmental coalition voters, the majority (54%) supported this step, compared to 32% of its opponents.

Last Saturday, it is believed that more than 100,000 people demonstrated throughout Israel, on the largest protest day in months, as anger escalated from the government’s failure to reach an agreement to liberalize more hostages, in addition to Netanyahu’s decisions to dismiss major officials to enhance his control over power.

The protests continued throughout the week, especially in Jerusalem, where thousands demonstrated against the movements of the recent government, including moving forward in the judicial reform plan and the Knesset voted on the state budget for 2025.
