He emphasized in an official statement today, Saturday, that the Sudanese government reaffirms its full commitment to performing its duty to protect civilians wherever they are, and stressed the government’s intention to investigate any individual incident in which a defenseless civilian is harmful, whether in Darfur, Kordofan, Khartoum or any active operating area.

Al -Esmar said in the statement: “Since the first day of the war, the Sudanese government has put its priorities very keen on the lives and safety of all its citizens, wherever they are, and the Sudanese Armed Forces and the supporting forces have been dealing with national responsibility with the rebel rapid support militia, which used isolation civilians as human shields, while the whole world witnessed how this criminal militia and its agents targeted the citizens Sudan’s cities and regions.

He continued: “Despite the extremely complex circumstances imposed by the militia inside the cities, by detaining civilians as hostages and using human shields, the armed forces continued to operate wisely and carefully to ensure the protection of civilians.”

He added in the statement: “In every military plan or field operation, the armed forces were keen first to take all the necessary measures and precautions to avoid civilian casualties, and even save those who were captured and abused for two years by the militia, and they are in the thousands, and the citizens themselves take shelter in the areas of the Sudanese armed forces control and receive them with welcome, and in return they escape from the places of the militia. And her agents in search of security, because of their confidence in the Sudanese Armed Forces.

He concluded his statement: “Today, the government reaffirms its full commitment to performing its duty to protect its citizens wherever they are, as it stresses its intention to investigate any individual incident in which a defenseless civilian is subjected to harm, whether in Darfur, Kordofan, Khartoum or any active operating area.”
