In its decision, which was reported by the Syrian News Agency “SANA”, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said that the General Secretariat will supervise the management of political activities and events within the Syrian Arab Republic, and organize them in accordance with the regulations and laws governing, in addition to participating in the formulation and drawing of public policies and plans related to political affairs.

The decision indicated that the “Secretariat” will work to re -employ the assets of the Arab Socialist Baath Party and the Progressive National Front parties and the affiliated organizations and committees to it, in a way that serves political and national tasks and responsibilities, pointing out that the General Secretariat for Political Affairs has an independent budget, within the general budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is subject to the supervision of the competent supervisory authorities.
The Ministry stated that the creation of the department came based on the requirements of political action and the requirements of the supreme national interest, and to achieve the highest standards of the organization, and within the framework of the process of developing and modernizing the structure of work and political efficiency in the new stage, and enhancing the role of official institutions.
