Washington reduces the funding of “White Helmets” in Syria – the seventh day

CNN reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump decided to reduce most of the funding allocated to the White Helmets Organization, a non -governmental organization operating in Syria.

According to the report, the United States has completely suspended the allocation of funds for the organization via the USAID, which led to a deduction of about $ 30 million in its operating budget.

However, the organization’s contract with the US State Department is still in effect, but it allows it to obtain only $ 1.4 million, which is a small amount compared to what it was previously receiving.

The White Helmets Organization was founded in 2014, a non -governmental group consisting of volunteers working in conflict areas inside Syria before the fall of Bashar al -Assad’s regime.

The reduction of US financing is a major blow to the organization’s operations, which mainly depend on Western support. While Washington has not issued an official statement on the reasons for reducing financing, this step may significantly affect the operational capacity of white helmets.
