Both Moroccan Etisalat (IAM) and Iwy Corporate announced the signing of an expanded partnership agreement, aiming to accelerate the process of digital transformation and the construction and deployment of optical fiber networks and the fifth generation technology (G5) in Morocco.
The Board of Directors of the two companies agreed- according to a statement, on Thursday- to sign this agreement, which comes in line with the digital developments in Morocco, and responds to its aspirations in the field of providing high-speed communication services.
In the context of this partnership, it was agreed to unify part of their negative communications infrastructure by establishing two partners with 50% of their shares.
One of the two companies will accelerate the spread of the optical fiber infrastructure throughout Morocco, with the aim of providing high -speed connection and accessing the Internet in high quality to subscribers, by achieving one million links within two years, and 3 million links within 5 years.
The second company will accelerate the publication of the fifth generation networks (G5), to provide high -capacity and high quality communication services, by creating new towers or updating some of the current towers as a negative infrastructure for mobile phone equipment. This company aims to create 2000 towers within 3 years, and 6000 towers within 10 years.

The total value of the investments allocated to the first stage of the project is 4.4 billion dirhams over a period of three years .. This joint infrastructure will be open to all telecommunications service providers who have licenses that allow them to share infrastructure, while ensuring the full commitment to the laws and regulations in force.

This partnership is subject to the monitoring of the Moroccan National Transportation Agency (AnRT) as part of its competencies related to the monitoring of economic focus operations.
