“The Guardian” monitors the physical and psychological suffering of Gaza’s truncated children – the seventh day

The British newspaper “The Guardian” has highlighted the large numbers of the children of the Gaza Strip, amputee, physically and psychologically.

In an article in the newspaper published on Thursday, the Palestinian Palestinian writer Ahmed Moore monitored the presence of the largest number of amputee in Gaza compared to any other place in the world, asking what the future is hidden for them?

Moore pointed out that before October 2023, children were formed nearly half million Palestinians there.

He explained that the United Nations stated that at least 14 thousand and 500 children – a number that is likely to be much less than the real number. In addition, international agencies indicate that at least 110,000 people in Gaza are injured, including at least 25,000 children.

Moore said: The United Nations Children’s Fund’s estimates “UNICEF” show that between 3 and 4 thousand children in Gaza have suffered from one or more amputations for them, stressing that this small spot of the land is now considered a home to the largest number of amputee children of every population compared to any other place in the world.

Moore added- in his article- that many of these children suffer from the world- journalists are still prohibited from entering Gaza, and many of those who were residing in it were killed. However, a few children have been able to obtain treatment, in the United States and other places.

Moore wrote, that in the United States, it does not mean an injury that changes the course of life, the end of a life worthy of being lived. There are laws that ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy equal rights and opportunities. As for the insured, it is available with advanced medical infrastructure with care.

However, he asked, “What means amputation in a place without sidewalks, nor streets, no slopes of wheelchairs, and no industrial limbs?

According to Moore, these thousands of children are of great importance, as their bodies tell a story that was ever dug on the land of the twenty -first century, and they are a leaflet through which issues of international law and protect the weak. But if the loss of these children is a ruling, it is also an introduction, because their needs, capabilities and limits will determine the features of the Palestinian society and its memory forever.

Moore told a collection of the stories of Gaza’s amputee’s children who met in the United States where they were receiving treatment, saying that almost all of them were carrying depression and anxiety. And when he asked them about things like “What are your hobbies?” And “What is your favorite TV program?”, They received these questions, mostly, completely silent.

He explained that in addition to their physical injuries, these children suffered an indescribable loss, as their schools and revival were lost, and many of their loved ones, brothers and friends died.
At the end of his article, Moore said that if childhood represents the time of innocence, and a group of pain and small joys, there is no childhood in Gaza.
