UNICEF: The Palestinian steadfastness under the tragic circumstances is unexpected – the seventh day

Kazem Abu Khalaf, a spokesman for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has confirmed that the Palestinian steadfastness until now in these tragic circumstances and since the beginning of the war is something unexpected.

Abu Khalaf said – in an intervention to the Nile News Channel – “The stopping of aid for the 27th day represents a setback in the humanitarian response process after the implementation of the ceasefire and the entry of aid and we started saving children from the acute malnutrition circle and after stopping the aid, the numbers of children exposed to malnutrition were escalating again.”

He added that there are a large number of children in need of medical evacuation at least 4,500, according to figures issued by the World Health Organization out of 16,000 people who need the medical evacuation that stopped due to the closure of the crossings, which affects all our plans.

He explained that we share roles with everyone who works in the field of humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip, such as UNRWA, which provides health care through its centers spread in the sector and the World Health Organization, which is concerned with the issue of medical evacuation and the provision of some medical materials and supplies, and we in UNICEF work to raise the percentage of vaccinations and work to create temporary education spaces and return life to normal and enter food support.

He pointed out that the roles of everyone working in the humanitarian field in Gaza have become confused due to the resumption of the war again to the Strip without indicators that they will soon end, as the movement of citizens has become one of the major challenges facing our work.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has warned of the enforcement of supplies, time and life in Gaza as a result of the bombing and the daily Israeli displacement orders, pointing to the devastating effects faced by more than two million people in Gaza for systematic prevention of human action inside the Strip.

In the United Nations spokesman said that the area necessary for families to survive is shrinking with the issuance of new Israeli displacement orders daily, noting that evacuation orders now cover 17% of Gaza area in just one week, warning that the medical stock, gas and fuel is dangerously decreased.
