In a video clip that was secretly recorded during a closed meeting with the local Jewish community in the Austrian city of Innsbruck, and was leaked to the media, Rut said that the death penalty should be applied to adolescents to carry a weapon or a hand grenade, and the ambassador did not provide any evidence of children’s arms carrying in Gaza.
The video was recorded two days after Israel violated the ceasefire in Gaza on March 18, with violent military operations that killed hundreds.

According to UNICEF, about 15,000 children were killed by Israel in Gaza, since the war began on October 7, 2023, which is close to a third of the total Palestinian dead.
Rot also asked whether Europe should invest in the reconstruction of Gaza, noting that the Strip “will destroy again.”
He continued: “Will Europe be crazy enough to invest money again in Gaza? We will have to destroy it next time.”

After the uproar caused by the video on communication platforms and the media, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement.
In its statement, the ministry said: In every opportunity and in front of every camera, Israeli ambassadors are categorically unambiguous that there is no future for Hamas in Gaza, and that Israel will not allow Hamas to stay in the Strip.
The ministry claimed that the remaining allegations are just a video montage and media manipulation, by anti -Israel elements, boycott activists, withdrawing investments and imposing sanctions.
