The International Catholic relief organization “Cartitas” called on the European Union to pressure the government of Israel to fulfill its legal obligations under international humanitarian law to provide the arrival of humanitarian aid without obstacles to the residents of Gaza and all parts of the occupied Palestinian territory, and the European Union should explain that its partner organizations and other aid providers must be able to reach all the urgent needy.
The international organization urged the work with the member states of the European Union to ensure the implementation of the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice issued in July 2024 and the decision of the subsequent United Nations General Assembly, and seeking clear measures to end Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories.
The organization added that the European Union must be clear and that it is ready to take the necessary measures if the occupation continues with priority to conduct an independent and comprehensive analysis of the implementation of the European Union and its procedures in accordance with the International Court of Justice as a first step.
