Saudi Arabia stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation in the field of water, and facing the challenges of the water sector around the world, in addition to the need to implement the integrated management of water resources, to achieve its sustainability and overcome the effects of water scarcity and develop its resources.
This came during the Kingdom’s participation in the “Water value community” forum held in the Italian capital, Rome; To discuss the most prominent challenges facing Italy in the water sector, such as the effects of climate change, the decline in groundwater levels, and the need to develop modern technologies to ensure the sustainability of water resources, according to Saudi News Agency (SPA) today /Saturday.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Water in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Shaibani, explained that the Kingdom’s 2030 vision has paid great attention to water resources, and made sustainable water development an essential part of the comprehensive development process.

Al -Shaibani pointed out that the scarcity of water resources for the Kingdom imposed the need to adopt comprehensive strategies to improve the efficiency of water use, to achieve a balance between supply and demand, enhance water sustainability, and the national water strategy 2030 seeks to develop alternative sources of water, reduce dependence on non -renewable underground water resources, through water desalination, improve the efficiency of distribution networks, and reduce water loss.
