Philip Lazarini, Commissioner -General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), confirmed 60 days since the Israeli forces were destroyed in Jenin camp, pointing out that it is the longest and most destructive process in the occupied West Bank since the second intifada in the first decade of the twenty -first century.
UNRWA Commissioner explained that the occupation aggression in the West Bank caused the displacement of tens of thousands of residents of Jenin, Tulkarm and Nour Shams refugees, in the absence of any clarity about the possibility of return, especially with the statements issued by the Israeli forces regarding their intention to stay in the area.
The UN official pointed out that the continuous occupation forces operations caused a systematic destruction of civil infrastructure and homes, with the aim of changing the character of Palestinian cities and refugee camps permanently on a scale that cannot be justified by any targets, saying that in this week only, the Israeli authorities issued orders to demolish 66 other buildings in Jenin camp, in addition to dozens of homes that the Israeli army has already destroyed there.
The UN official said that the occupation has exceeded many red lines, in a flagrant violation of the principles of international law, which always stresses the protection of civilians, civil infrastructure, and private property, including homes.
