Palestinian Health: 80% of Gaza hospitals are out of service due to the repercussions of the war – the seventh day

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip confirmed that 80% of the sector’s hospitals have become out of service due to the repercussions of the Israeli war on it.

The ministry also condemned the “heinous crime that the occupation had carried out to blow up the Turkish Friendship Hospital, the only hospital dedicated to treating oncology patients in the Gaza Strip.”

The ministry pointed out that the hospital was blown up after “the occupation used it as the headquarters of its forces throughout its occupation of what is known as the Natsarim axis.”

The Palestinian health emphasized that “this criminal behavior of the occupier comes in harmony with the systematic destruction of the health system and a continuation of the genocide episodes.”

The International Committee of the Red Cross warned that medical facilities in the Gaza Strip suffer from “severe pressure” that exceeds its capacity, in light of Israel’s resumption of the war it is waging on the Strip, and at the same time, the World Health Organization reported that there is a severe shortage of medicines.

“Many health facilities across Gaza are literally suffering from severe pressure that exceeds their capabilities.”

Della Longa stated that health facilities suffer from a high number of patients and pressure in light of the decline in supplies. “There is a scarcity of food, supplies and fuel,” he said. He added that the Palestinian Red Crescent teams evaluate the impact of fuel deficiency on ambulance services and the ability of paramedics to reach those who need them.

For his part, a spokesman for the World Health Organization, Tariq Yassarific, warned against running out of drug stocks. “Unfortunately, because of this shortage of medicines, there is a risk that health workers can not provide treatment for various medical conditions, not just injuries,” he said.

Yassarific stated that many supplies are “running out.” He explained that the Health Organization has 16 trucks waiting at the Al -Arish crossing on the Egyptian side of the border with Gaza, while basic medical supplies are being purchased.

For its part, MSF reported that its teams received a great impulsion from the wounded in its field hospital and its clinic and in Nasser Hospital.

“The types of injuries are extremely difficult. From amputation of the parties to the complex bones and burns,” said Muhammad Abu Mughaisib, deputy medical coordinator of the organization in southern Gaza.

He added that “hospitals are unable to deal with the situation regarding the large numbers of the victims that received them at once.”

“It was very terrifying for twenty minutes, in light of the fall of bombs everywhere,” said Claire Nicoleeh, head of the emergency department at MSF, noting that “the population here is very afraid. Of course, they saw this a full resumption of fighting and they are very afraid of what would happen later.”
