Palestinian Health: Gaza and the West Bank face an unprecedented health disaster in light of the escalation of the Israeli aggression – the seventh day

The Palestinian Ministry of Health warned that the Gaza Strip and the West Bank; They face a health disaster due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, the closure of the crossings, and the tightening of the siege; What led to a near -complete collapse of the health system in Gaza, and the situation of hospitals and medical centers in the West Bank under tremendous pressure in light of the continuous Israeli escalation against Palestinian cities and camps.

The ministry stated – in a statement today / Wednesday / that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are working twice their capacity, amid a continuous flow of the wounded and the injured, and the health system suffers from a severe shortage of medicines, medical supplies and fuel needed to operate medical devices and generators.

She added that the direct targeting of the health facilities in Gaza led to the exit of more than 80% of hospitals and medical centers from the service, while the remaining facilities suffer from severe overcrowding, a severe shortage of medical crews, and the impossibility of performing urgent surgeries due to the loss of anesthesia and basic supplies.

She pointed out that the continuation of the Israeli occupation in targeting defenseless civilians in the camps, homes and shelters requires urgent international action to save the wounded and injured, and to reopen the crossings to introduce medical supplies, fuel and equipment necessary to save the remaining health system in Palestine.

The United Nations, the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and all international and human rights organizations called for immediate action and pressure on the occupation to open the crossings and secure humanitarian corridors to transport the wounded and enter medical assistance without any delay.

Palestinian health added that hospitals are in the West Bank; It suffers from increasing pressure due to the repeated attacks on Palestinian cities by the occupation forces, which target medical personnel and hinder the arrival of ambulances to the injured, and the restrictions imposed on the movement greatly impedes the delivery of medical aid and basic supplies, which increases the exacerbation of the health situation.

She also warned that she is facing a suffocating financial crisis as part of the government in general, due to the Israeli occupation government’s detention of Palestinian tax revenues, noting that the financial crisis threatens the lives of thousands of patients in particular, cancer patients, dialysis, heart and chronic diseases.
