In the midst of the mutual military escalation between the United States and the Houthi group in Yemen, Yemeni media reported that the Houthis fired a ballistic missile from the Majzar area, west of Marib Governorate, towards the Red Sea, in response to the continuous US air strikes on their locations.
Last Saturday, the United States started a massive military campaign against the Houthis, which included intense air and sea raids. These strikes resulted in the killing of at least 53 people, including five children, and about 100 others.
These operations aim to punish the Houthis for their repeated attacks on ships in the Red Sea, and to show a more firm American position towards Iran, the main supporter of the Houthis.
In a quick reaction, the Houthis announced the targeting of the USAS Harry Truman carrier in the north of the Red Sea with 18 ballistic missiles and drones. Although there are no independent assurances about the effectiveness of this attack, the Houthis confirmed their continued response to what they described as “American aggression”.

These developments show a serious escalation in regional tensions, which raises fears of the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, which is already suffering from tragic conditions. The United Nations has called on all parties to self -control and avoid more escalation, which may destabilize the region more.
