United Nations: 14 billion dollars in the economic cost of the conflict in Lebanon – the seventh day

The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs “OCHA” said that the continuous shelling in Lebanon threatens to reach humanitarian aid and protection, as the highest number of air strikes has been reported during the past few days since the agreement to stop hostilities, and that the economic cost of the conflict in Lebanon has reached 14 billion dollars, and the costs of reconstruction and total recovery are estimated at about 11 billion dollars, and the housing sectors bear the largest losses.

According to the International Organization for Migration, there are 92,825 people who are still displaced away from their societies in Lebanon, while the recent escalation of violence in Syria led 10,000 new refugees to the northern governorates.

The UN office added that the number of air strikes increased, as 15 sites were targeted by air strikes and drones in the governorates of the south, Nabatiyeh and the Bekaa between March 7 and 13.
