Iraq announces the seizure of more than a ton of narcotic Captagon pills coming from Syria – the seventh day

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday, March 16th, that it would thwart an attempt to smuggle more than a ton of narcotic Captagon pills coming from Syria via Türkiye, in the largest control of drug smuggling during the recent period. This came based on information exchanged with the Saudi Drug Administration.

In a press statement, Brigadier Miqdad Miri, a spokesman for the ministry, said that the security operation that took place was “qualitative”, in which the Drug Enforcement Directorate in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah participated in the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq. The operation resulted in the seizure of a ton and 100 kilograms of narcotic captagon pills.

This is the first similar process announced by Iraq since the fall of Bashar al -Assad’s regime last December, as it accuses its regime of manufacturing this stimulant similar to amphetamine on a large scale in neighboring Syria.
